The Piikani Nation in Southern Alberta has initiated a major project to investigate numerous former residential schools, and other sites on the Nation for the existence of any unmarked graves of residential school attendees.

It is known that there were three residential schools in Piikani, along with an hospital, Queen Victoria Jubilee home and the RC Mission. Therefore, it is critical that Piikani undertake a thorough, thoughtful, and respectful search on our own lands.

The working group will report to Chief and Council and communicate regularly to Nation Members as well as media.  Any found data will be released under the authority of Piikani Nation Chief and Council.
